Ruasagavulu means 19 in Fijian. Recorded in late 2019 in the pre-covid-19 days, when Dave Black visited Suva, Fiji when Snake-Beings was resident. Instruments include a big casio keyboard, a ukelele, harmonica, a phone app looper, a small powered speaker, A Duduk (From travels in Armenia), pots and pans, and a small Dholak two skin drum bought from Hanson's supermarket. Dave did an extensive mastering on the mainly live recordings adding over dubs and some field recordings, shaping the songs and making it into an 'album'. Recorded at 26 Niu street, Suva.
Dave says:
I gave the tracks Fijian numbers as names by default, in the order of your zoom tracks that they were based on, eg 'Lima' = 5 (not the capital of Peru, but very close to 'Rima' in Te Reo).... but then I changed some to other words, place names, and for track 1 the name is the scale used
